Thanks, mx19. I knew Sweeney's had archery stuff. Actually, their phone number is programmed into my phone. I was just hoping to find a shop a little closer to home. I might just have to make the trip down there. Do they have an indoor range to try out different bows?

Hey JT I would recomend Wilderness Archery in Rocklin (916-630-8700). I don't know how far from you Rocklin is, but they are a full-blown archery shop with indoor lanes and a very knowledgable staff. They will fit you with the proper size equipment in whatever price range you want.
Tell them Rusty Mills (my Father-in-Law) and Rich Freitas (me) sent you.
I don't know your skill level, but if you are a beginner I would recomend taking a few lessons. It is far easier to learn proper form from the beginning rather than trying to break bad habits later.
Are you interested in hunting or target archery?
If there are any questions you have about archery don't hesitate to ask.
There used to be a shop in Concord off Arnold Industrial Parkway next to Kinders, which is a couple miles east of I680 on Hwy 4. I'll check around a little bit and see if it is still there. I know they used to have a couple indoor lanes as well. Fairly small place but packed with stuff. I'll give you a call tomorrow if I find out it is still there.
ArcherDude, Thanks for the info on the shop in Rocklin. That's about 45 minutes from where I live (Dixon). I went bowhunting with my dad in Utah last week. He's been into archery since he was a kid, but I never really got into it. My dad had a few injuries over the years that kept him from hunting, so I never really had the chance. I'm looking for a bow now, so I can get ready for next year. I can't afford to take lessons, so I'll have to learn how I learned to flyfish. I've been devouring every book and magazine I can get my hands on. I know it'll take a whole a lot of practice as well.
KHB, Thank you as well. We need to do some fishing.

I no longer have the amont of free time that I used to, but I could try to find some time to spend with you to get you on the right track. I also talked to my father-in-law and he said the same thing. Both of us have shot competitive archery for many many years and enjoy helping new people in the sport.
We didn't get close enough to any deer for a shot, but we were plenty close for a shot at a few cow elk and a moose. Without a moose or elk tag, though, what are you going to do? I actually saw the biggest bull elk I've ever seen and will probably ever see. It was a massive 8x8! We also saw a nice bull and cow moose (from a distance) paired up in a meadow. Those are big animals!
