Went to the creek for a couple days and decided to explore a bit since the flows are dropping.  Found a way across to the other side of access 3 and fished the pocket water upstream.  This turned out to be much more difficult then I planned.  Every time I saw a spot that looked promising I'd get close and realize it was blocked by tangles of thornbushes or the water was too deep to wade up.  I spent hours wandering around in what would have seemed like a wilderness If I didn't hear cars whooshing by every 30 seconds.  Finally found some good water and immediately hooked up with a nice one around 17" that shook me off.  Things were slow after that and I only managed a small 8" wild dink.  Both hit a #22 midge.  Went back to the same spot (dont ask me why) on sunday but didn't find much.  Missed 2 smallish wild fish and caught a standard planter as well as another 6" mini pig that I thought was a clump of moss.  Maybe when these fish grow up they will remember me and come back for a visit! HA!!  It is nice to be hooking a few fish but I still feel like I'm struggling.  I can't decide if I'm not fishing the right type of water or I'm just not fishing well enough to hook more fish, but I read these posts of people having awesome days and I'm wondering if I'm on the same creek, ha!

I sometimes feel the same way! People talking about 12-30 fish? I would be soooo stoked if i got 30 fish, or 20, or 5. Oh well, it is all a learning process. I seem to get more information and learn about new flies and new spots the more i go. That is what makes it fun for me, always up for a chellenge.
