Fishing was good yesterday, started out in the bridge area using a size 18 pt and 20 zebra midge, hooked a few and lost them. Switched over to a size 16 red copper john and it was on. Caught a bunch of hatchery fish and a few natives. Caught some larger wild fish in the middle section of the creek all on the red copper john. I also tied on a rig which I call the "Purist" its a san juan worm with an egg dropper usually works well but did not get a grab on it all day.
Edog that sounds like a setup I'd use. The san juan worm and egg patterns work well year round, especially the san juan worm, In various colors and styles. I know of course a hardcore purist would shun this but I just like to catch fish man. When the going gets tough You'll find a san juan worm hangin on my rod. I use alot of copper johns as well, pretty much all colors and styles seem to work for me, on putah and sierra waters, The green ones only seem to spark the interest of planters.
I also use a red john out there with a glass bead to match. Actually a few different red patterns have always caught me fish including Bono's extended body midge. Nice report.
