Hey Guys...as a newbie to this amazing sport, and as I have noticed, one of the few girls up on the creek...I just wanted to thank those of you I have met who have been the utmost of gentlemen. Frankly, I can't tell who among you I have had the pleasure of actually meeting. It can be a little intimidating being up there alone and I have to say that everyone I have had a chance to talk to has made me feel pretty welcome and secure. A special thanks to Raider Dave who helped me land a very nice native a week or so ago.
I think I may have met you on the creek once. I was just getting to the creek and you were leaving. You were picking up trash around the parking lot near the bridge. Anyway, welcome to the board.

Yeah, that was me picking up the trash. Try to pick up a bag each time I'm there on my way back to the car. I am always both amazed and appalled by the amount of garbage people leave laying around up there. I hate seeing it, so I take it with me if I can.
Hey flygirl it was nice meeting you on Sunday, fishing was a little slow that day but atleast we caught a few out of there. Lookout JT this flygirl is gonna be catchin all your fish. Fished on sunday got a couple, one was 18"+. Fished on Sat. hooked into a dozen or so lost a couple big ones and landed around 6. pt's and midges worked back and forth. fished both days during the middle of the day
Sounds like theres some fish to be caught in putah, Hope to make it up there for the first time in a few months this weekend, I'm getting spoiled from sierra fishing the last few months, guess its time to give those finicky putah hogs a try, Really don't like fishing the high flows, but it's always nice to be out with a flyrod in my hand. As far as the trash goes, its just the norm for this time of year its always especially bad up near the damn and resort area. Sure would be nice to see putah managed properly like some other rivers in nor cal, If putah creek was managed properly it could easily rival rivers like the upper sac. or the east walker, or the middle stan.
Nice to meet you too, Matt. And thanks for donating that little midge to my fly box. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. Fished today and had 10 on, landed 9. One up where we met Sunday, three down past the bridge and 5 at access five. Two bit on a micro mayfly and the rest went for a ray charles. Nothing really big, a few hatchery fish in there, but hey...I'm just happy to catch fish.
I, too, have carried many bags of trash out of there. It's ridiculous how much trash is on the creek. What are people thinking? It's not just Putah, though. It seems like everywhere I fish I'm finding trash all over the place.

I'll look for that orange kayak. Haven't been up there in about 10 days...had family stuff goin on...but hopefully plan on being up there tomorrow or Friday.
Not sure what a Ray Charles imitates. It's a size 18, fuzzy white with a small red dot at the head. Whatever it is supposed to be it worked for me.
Speaking of trash...I was up near the damn last weekend and there was some trash, But It dosent seem to be as bad as last year, Just my observation, But any amount is to much. Can't wait for the low winter flows !!!!!!!!!!
Yeah Captain the trash scene doesnt seem to be too bad. But than again it's probably cus some of us clean up after others. And JT I'll second that about the winter flows, plus I'll miss all the entertainment the bait fisherpeople give me. I sit there and crack up at some of the things I see.
Ok I will give ya that it is pretty funny to watch some people fish. Speaking of that, last weekend up near the campground there was this little girl fishing with some sort of weird looking fishing pole, I watched and what it was, was some sort of like spring loaded gun that shot a weighted float out into the water, It was really funny to watch, But the really funny part came when she accidently shot a lady fishing next to her with it, I was crackin up ! I hope that the winter flows dont go as low as last year but with the lack of rain we had I have a feeling that it may be worse then last year.
