I'm curious how many folks on the board have paid much attention to the route designation process that the different USFS forests are currently involved in? ElDorado National Forest ENF was the first in the nation to start the process and just recently submitted their proposal. Many people I have talked to feel that it only effects those that drive 4wd's, bikes and quads, which just isn't the case. Access and the ability to camp in the NF effects people that fish, hunt, photograph, backpack, rock climb, go on picnics, cross country ski, snowmobile, etc.

Out of curiosity how many in here have fished Silver fork out of Kyburz? If you camped up there during your trip you can pretty much forget about it in the future if "D" is enacted. I don't particularly like the idea of having to park my vehicle on the side of a dirt road in the woods to camp. The spur roads, that have been there for decades, leading to various well established campsites will be lost. Sure you can still camp there but you have to leave your vehicle 100's of yards away, carry all your camping gear and basically abandon your vehicle on the side of the road. There is a 62 page list of roads effected that WILL limit your access to fish, hunt, camp etc So much for public property.

Yeah it's rather ridiculous if you stop and think about it. I talked in length to a park ranger a few months back and tried to explain that if you make people pack in to these areas they will leave a bigger footprint than occurs now and the chance of fires will increase. People won't want to carry out their trash, you leave your vehicle exposed to vandalism and most importantly camp fires will probably not be extinguished properly due to people hurrying to back their gear back out.

Absolutely correct.  I ride a mountian bike and we are losing trails by the dozen everyday.  It's pathetic.  I wrote a letter last year to say my word but who knows.....dohdoh
