Beware of Ticks

Fished the creek on Sunday. Lots of good sight fishing opportunities. Hooked three and lost three all on small midge patterns. saw a nice sized gopher snake.

Went to the American River in the evening.

Caught one tick on an armpit pattern! I didn't notice it until the next morning in the shower. Managed to tweeze it out with head intact.

Not sure which location I picked the tick up at. Just a reminder to those that enjoy the outdoors. Take a few minutes to check your clothes and body. Wearing light colored clothes can help you spot them better.

Hmmm......maybe a good tick pattern would do the trick.

thanks for the heads up. If you fish/hunt in Marin or Sonoma there are an unimaginable amount of ticks in the high grass. My dad and i always manage to pick up 3-6 ticks on every trip. Try the Off® repelent, the one with 99% DEET. Thats the most effective

I picked up a tick last week on a hand pattern.  I got him to throw the hook, though, before any damage was done.  I remember fishing at access #5 two or three years ago, having 5 ticks on me in about 10 minutes.  It was nuts!
