Finally! Putah came back for me. 15 or so fish to hand, half that many lost including a nice fatty (18 inches?) that breached and spit the hook.
Go to fly was #14 olive fox poopah beadhead. Fish were killing it. Minor caddis hatch and stone hatch, no real topwater action though at dark above the bridge there were a few sippers. Cast to 4 of them and got one take - but missed him.
Fished below the resort in a nice deep slot and caught all but one fish within 20 yards of each other. Fished the same spot for 4 hours and just kept pulling fish.
Unbelievalbly beautiful day. Got a pic of a nice 15 incher - but didn't upload the photo yet.
Couple more days of heat and I think the caddis will really turn on.
It's wierd how one day it seems you can't do anything right. Then, the next day it's as if you can't do anything wrong. Those are the days that keep me going. I guess we really wouldn't recognize the good without the bad. Good job, JL.
