I would like to propose for discussion placing a maximum size limit of 18” during the regular season. All fish above 18” should be catch and release.I almost cry when I see a nice fish on a stringer. How do you feel?
Most people that flyfish practice catch and release anyway so there isn't much point in it.
I have serious doubts that the majority of bait dunker/spin fishing peeps can catch a trout and return it to the water without killing it. Makes for a lot of dead fish in the water that otherwise would have ended up on the dinner table.
I'd be more inclined to go with a year round restriction on fishing methods and limit restrictions of all points upstream from the big island above Lake Solano. It should help alleviate the garbage problem as well. Legal enforcement for above said regulation would be another matter.

I'd like to see a law like that. It would be nice. They have similar laws in Utah on many lakes and rivers. It has definitely helped the fishing in these waters. However, strict catch and release of ALL fish can result in a lot of small fish.

Spin and bait fishermen are not all created equal.Just like bug dunkers 10% catch 90% of the fish.I have watched guys with a single egg on an 18 hook drift a run with great success. They released fish in good shape.Didn’t even leave a beer bottle.I think a maximum size limit would increase the numbers of larger fish for all of us to share.
