Now that finals are over, I can get some more fishing in. I made it out this morning for a couple of hours. There were TONS of midges in the air and on the water when I got there. The surface of the creek was full of emerging midge pupae and pupal shucks. There were quite a few caddis coming off the water as well. I hooked five, landing two this morning. One was a 21" rainbow. He was a nice, fat, strong fish. I got him on a #20 olive midge. I lost another 20"+ fish on the same fly. I had it within 10 ft and was bringing it to the net when it spit the hook. The other fish landed took a #16 tan Fox Poopah. I didn't see any mayflies, but I imagine they'll be hatching in the afternoon.
