Was reading another board and looks like theres gonna be a march 1st opener on some waters, anyone know were I can find a list of waters that will open on march 1st....I'm freakin dying to get up in the mountains freeze my butt off and fish. Hasn't been much snow so I think there will be some good options if this info. is indeed correct.
You must have been reading Kiene's website Captain. The DFG voted in December to open a number of Sierra waters to year round fishing starting March 1. I don't recall the entire list, but the American and tributaries above HWY 49, the north Yuba, the Pit, East and West Carson, Truckee and Little Truckee were, I believe, on the list. The details are in the 2007 regs.
Here is an article that may answer some of your questions, looks like starting March 1 some new regulations are taking effect in the eastern sierras allowing catch and release in the winter months. http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2006/12/28/sports/cowan/21_21_3712_27_06.txt
Looks like you have your choice of Hot Creek, the East Walker, the Upper Owens River, and Carson Creek. hope this is helpful Charlie

I was looking into the openings and I found this list.
Sections of the following streams will be open year around effective March 7th; The American River (all forks), Carson River, Hot Creek, Little Truckee, Upper Owens, Pit River, Truckee River, Tuolumne River, North Fork Yuba River. Refer to the 2007 fishing regulations for specifics on these streams.
LOOK ON THE TROUTFITTER.COM. THIS IS THE FLY SHOP LOCATED IN MAMMOTH. IF YOU WANT TO CATCH TROPHY TROUT NOT AS FAR YOU SHOULD COME AND FISH THE KINGS RIVER IN FRESNO COUNTY!!!
RMOC, Welcome to the board. I checked out the site you recommended, but it is for a shop in Crested Butte, Colorado. Are you sure you had the address right?
