I've heard that there's a lot of spots and smallies that got washed into the creek from berryessa. These guys will hurt this fishery big time. Anyone else seen the pods of bass? I believe there's no special regulation for bass in this body of water. I'll be bonking ones I catch.

Early start before the heat wave sets in... Broke in the new Fish Pond Nomad as the smaller net just wasn't cutting muster.. A total of 5 good grabs with three landed. Nothing spectacular, but I'll take a 3-fish morning any day on Putah! They were between 13 and 17-inches... One came on a size 16 olive...

Late start and lots of anglers, but the fish were taking a variety of flies. This one took a #20. Makes my landing net look like a toy. Had to use it like a tray rather than a net.

Caught 2 and moved one that was easily over 2'. Didnt see a whole lot of fish activity. Not sure if this is concerning especially with the bass population? Anyone know what fly these are? They kind of look like PMD's. I also saw a couple nice sized caddis, much bigger than the bugs I normally see. Olive bodies with black heads and darker wings. I tried fishing a fox's caddis nymph which matched it really well, but no hookups on it.

Yet another fire next to the creek. This marks 4 summers in a row. It went from 80 acres this afternoon to 1000 this evening. At this point it is 15% contained with a DC-10 ordered. Hopefully it is undercontrol by tomorrow.

Finally found some fish! I caught 4 out of a little riffle with a nice little ledge/chute in it. Then I went cold for a few hours and then it turned on! I caught 4-5 fish on the next 10-12 casts. It was super fun! Most in the 12" range.
