Fish with parasites on base of dorsal fin

Fished yesterday and caught a fish with visible copepod parasites at the base of the dorsal and adipose fins. Wondering if anyone else has seen this on the river. I pulled them off. Kind of gnar.

My guess is probably that fish isn't too healthy, but I'm not sure. There was algae on the banks last time I was there since the flows are so low and slow, so maybe that fish is hanging out in the slack water since it is sick, and picked up parasites?

This has been around for years. I would say we see them on 7 out of 10 fish.

Yeah I agree, I’ve been seeing those things on putah trout for as long as I’ve fished the creek (40 ish) years
