Bead or no bead

Do you guys have more success fishing with beads or no beads on your flies? I personally like the wd-40 and pheasant tail no bead.

I've had luck with flies with beads and flies without.

The one advantage in using beads is the added weight to make the nymph sink faster. But I catch fish with both type of nymphs.

I was talking to a former Putah Creek guide a long time ago and he told me that he prefers non-beaded nymphs in very slow moving water and beaded nymphs elsewhere.  However, my own experience has produced good results with beaded flies in both types of water.  I do prefer to use dark beads instead of gold beads.  The one exception is the Copper John; for it I prefer a gold bead.

All depends on the water you're fishing and conditions. I always have both...
