Going up to the Truckee tomorrow with a buddy.  Haven't fished it this year at all.  I usually fish nymphs during the day and little yellow sallies in the evening.  I like fishing with a large nymph (stonefly of some type) and a smaller dropper (copper john, hares ear, etc.)  I've had some success with midges in years gone by.  I tied up a bunch of midges the last couple of days and decided to fish them exclusively as my dropper (brassie, zebra, etc).  I've never done this before.  I'm wondering if any of you have fished the Truckee primarily with midges?  Will give a report on Thursday when I return.

I fish em, and with reasonable success (olive). For your larger nymph consider dead drifting a cray pattern. If nothing's working I've heard rumors that fishing a griffiths gnat as a nymph can find fish?

Got back this afternoon after fishing morning and evening hatches yesterday and the morning hatch today.  Lots of bugs, particularly caddis flies, and Lit yellow stones.  We both got into fish yesterday with my buddy catching one of about 20 inches.  Today we caught several more with the big fish being one of a little over 20 on a caddis imitation.
