Berryessa Bass from a float tube
Permalink

I'm planning on going to Berryessa sometime next week to fish the banks from a float tube.

Can anyone tell me the regs, as far as checking in/inspecting my float tube. Thank you.

Basically no regs.  There are no hull checks and such, if that's what you are referring to.  Find a place to pull over, carry your tube down to the water and catch some fish.

Hey Mr. Bugger, did you ever make it out to Berryessa for the bass fishing?

I'd like to try that some time and think with a fish finder loaded on my pontoon boat it could be great.

Hey iamamultitasker,
I did make it out last Sunday and it was an absolute blast. 5 landed but had many missed hits as well. The largest fish was a smallmouth around 2 lbs. It was our first time, and it took us a while to figure out what type of retrieve they wanted but even so it was a nice change from the creek. Most fish were in the 3 feet to 11 feet of water.

I used an intermediate line 15ft clear sink-tip line (type3) with a 7wt rod, and
tied up a handful of a flies called the Flying Cat, it's what TexasRiverBum suggested on another thread titled "Berryessa Bass", but also caught one on a large coned head woolybugger(ha ha) olive in color.

Let me know if you need any more info.
