there seems to be a lot of bait fishing lately , yes I called dfg no they didnt make contact they always scoot before dfg shows up , next time I wont inform the pochers they are breaking the regs . I am just going to call dfg , These two guys had two to three fish on a stringer useing worms and cheese . Here is a pic of there truck
there is no excuse now as the signage that we have all wanted for a long time is posted and the regs are clear! good job Rich, but be smart too as these guys can be stupid to the max...evidence on the stringer....
Its really disappointing to see things like this, whoever bait fishes is essentially dabbling with the unbelievable idea of stringing the fish. The fish in Putah Creek have been providing the best freshwater fly fishing experience in all of the bay area. I live in Berkeley, pretty much in the heart of the bay area, and theres no where like it near me. I have personally caught and seen people catch the same fish from this creek at different times of the year. Losing a fish, will have a direct negative impact on the fishery! I believe that with all the signs that are put up and the fact that these fish are completely wild, bait fishing is the most ignorant thing to do. I went up to creek on Friday and for a weekday it was full of young and elder fly fisherman. We must cherish this beautiful fishery and with the amount of anglers on the creek we shouldn't have a problem at spotting and stopping people who bait fish!

For being tight on cash DFG can sure make their money by patrolling putah creek. Even checking to see if people a debating their hooks would make them a profit there. It's not a secret that people go there and break the rules. I hope dveryone is informing them and letting them know that we will contact DFG.

I think a lot of people are bitter about the creek not being stocked anymore. I ran into an older gentleman who was out with his wife and dog (not fishing) and asked how the fishing was and mentioned what a shame it is that they aren't stocking it anymore. There's a lot of people who fish without a license, let alone open up the regs book and check the creeks regs.
I will have a chat with Tim Bolla our local game warden and see if he can make it more of a routine to patrol the creek. Game wardens are torn in may directions this time of year with hunting seasons in swing.
