Has anyone been fishing on the creek in the past few weeks? Any news, good or bad?

I was considering driving up from SF this weekend, but might look elsewhere if the fishing has been sub-par.

At 756cfs it's truckin'. Would try access 5 area. I haven't fly fished the creek for a while.

I went up last weekend. The water is well higher than any other time I have fished it. Caught 4 smallish trout. As far as access 5, I could not find away to cross onto the island. Normally going straight down from the parking lot, I can find my way across. Not this time. Way too high and deep. Definitely tough to get access. Even the boulder garden at 3 was a tough stretch to fish.

Went this last weekend. I managed two, 17" and 22". The higher water makes it a little tougher if you've only fished the creek when it's running winter levels but they're there. Just got to explore and find them.

What section were you fishing? Were the fish on the edges?

The river is running pretty high, so not sure I want to make the drive until it drops a bit. Nice work with the two big boys though!

DSC_0024.JPGThose size fish aren't out of the norm. Once you figure it out those good ones will come. This water is different than your usual river. It's always cold so fishing the pocket water isn't really necessary. Yes the fish are on the edges but only in faster water. I've tied up a few patterns that work by just observing what's around/in the water and a lot of experimenting. I'd look for do offs, pools, and long tail outs. Also, Solano lake isn't a bad choice either.
