Ive heard of theft at the creek in the past but never thought it would happen to me. I drove my wife's car out yesterday with the plan to fish for a couple of hours before my class. I parked at the redd bed to put on my gear and noticed a WHITE TOYOTA TACOMA STANDARD CAB, looked fairly new. A white heavy set brown haired male was sitting on the bench, not fishing. Once I was geared up I walked over to the bed to check on "my babies" and as I walked toward the man he got off the bench and lumbered down the path towards the bottom of the run. I thought nothing of it and walked away to fish. As I was fishing "below 3" two gentlemen in a GREY TOYOTA TRUCK STANDARD CAB 1985-1990. These two men were fishing and started taking up conversation with me as the walked down towards the run. I've seen the grey truck out there before and I am not suspect of these two. Even though one of the guys had fallen up to his neck in water only after getting my gear off a tree. When it was time to leave I returned to my car to a broken passenger rear window. My wallet, iPad, and all my welding gear was sitting in the cab. my wife and I just recently had a child and had our baby seat and diaper bag in the back seat. So get this, the thief ONLY TOOK THE DIAPER BAG! Keep your eyes out for this vehicle guys and gals, I'd love to get my hands on him! Thanks for reading.

Just the sort of nonsense that we don't need...will keep an eye out and report here of any activity that seems wrong...not fishing the creek myself until April but go all the time, keeping an eye on the next hatch and often ride up on my HD to chill...sorry for your experience and we all need to be alert up there

I don't think breakins are all that uncommon at Putah, Lower Stan, And the Yuba. There's usually some broken glass at the normal parking spots.

So.....the crook is a new father/mother and only stole something they really needed??  Or some sort of freak with a diaper fetish.....either way always best to keep your eyes open.  Too bad about the window, and the bag.  How was the fishing?  Haven't been up this winter yet, buddy coming from Redding the 28th and will fish for a couple of days....any suggestions to spots at the moment?

I wonder if leaving your car unlocked with a note that says there's nothing in the car steal would help. Maybe the car would then be stolen.

Oldsurf1, spots are changing a lot right now with the water flows. Some spots that could be good today may not tommorrow. Hike the banks and look for fishable water. Please try to wade as little as possible as most of the fish just spawned. A lot of the reds are covered now so its hard to tell them apart from the rest of the ground. Good luck!

As far as the break in, bummer. I was there on sunday with a buddy parked up on the road above one of the access points. It was raining on an off pretty good. There was a heavy set guy in the parking lot with binoculars and and umbrella looking for spawning fish. I didnt see a white tacoma all day. I'll keep an eye out but agrreded that this is not something that seems to be uncommon latlly.no

I feel your frustration.  A few years ago I was broken into twice at access 5.  The first time they made off with my laptop.  I wish I had a diaper bag and I might have gotten off easier biggrin.  Since then I leave my car unlocked with nothing of value in it and haven't had a problem since then.  Broken windows are a pain to deal with when you have to drive.

I've mentioned this here in the past but it's worth mentioning again.

Years ago my truck was broken into while I was fishing Putah.  Long story short, they took valuables, vehicle registration (think address) and my remote garage door opener.  Yes they were in my house when I pulled up sideways to block the garage.  They had parked behind the house and jumped the fence.

The po po can confirm your address easy enough without having it on your vehicle registration.

Anywhere around there to set up a game cam after you park?
