Hey Guys, The majority of my time in college (while I was'nt fishin) was spent in class learning how to write better (english major).  In general I am a pretty expressive guy, and needless to say my experieces these past few weeks have evoked a number of sentiments that I felt like writing about.  A...

I really shouldn't have, but I just had to.  I have so much homework and studying to do right now, but I can't go that long without fishing.  I shouldn't be fishing for another two weeks, when finals are over.  I only lasted two weeks.  Four weeks would have been entirely too long.  KHB, yo...

Got to the river at 9.00 am from San Francisco yesterday. After looking over various sections and the few fishermen who had already taken my old watering holes I decided to hit the bridge. A note here, since I started fishing this river I have never had any success at the rough water by the bridge. I often...

No New Posts Fatal hit and run at access 5 today (Preview)
I came out to fish at access 5 today and experienced an unfortunate scene. According to the CHP, a motorcycle was coming down from the lake and smacked a car coming out of access 5. The car was a blue-gray colored Acura, occupied by a white guy and an hispanic guy. The driver side rear has heavy damage al...

No New Posts Flows-14 March (Preview)
The lake is still at about 93% of capacity.  The flows on the creek have jumped up again to 114 cfs.  It's been a while since they've been above 100 cfs.  I think I'll have to hit the creek this Saturday for a couple of hours.  I have a final Monday, but who can resist?

I managed to get out this morning for a couple of hours before work.  I tried my luck below the bridge for an hour  with no action, although my record up in that area is spotty at best.  I headed downstream for the last hour and managed to land a nice fat 19 inch rainbow on a size 20 black WD-40.  Thanks to JT fo...

I'm an older guy and my eyes aren't what they used to be.  I have a hard time getting the leader through the eye of an 18.  I hear posts talkeing about 22 and 24 patterns.  Do you think it's worth the effort to use pattern smaller than 18?

It was a nice day on the creek on Tuesday, the weather was perfect but the fishing was slow. Not much action on the creek, but over all it was just nice to be outside. I got one fish that day, and missed 3 hook ups. I found a perfect little spot to pitch a dry fly to a nice rising trout, with a help of a good friend...

No New Posts This Weekend (Preview)
Did anyone make it out this weekend?  I couldn't.  I was stuck at home doing homework.  The quarter is coming to an end, and there's a lot of work to do.  Hopefully I'll be able to make it out this coming weekend.

No New Posts Flows, 06 Mar 07 (Preview)
It looks like the flows are back up in the 60's.  It seems like they fluctuate quite a bit around the weekend.  During the week, it seems that they've been more stable.  I just checked the lake capacity and it's about 93% full and still rising slowly.

Got to the creek about 7 a.m, started around the bridge, alot of fish were rising, hooked 2 on a #20 griffths nat, lost em both, they were small, about 10 inchers. After that had a long period of no action, moved down to access #1, an area I rarely fish, hooked and lost one on a red copper john, was a decent fis...

I have decided to re-schedule our meeting due to the fact that a lot of people who would have a lot of input on these issues or need to hear our issues and concerns cannot be there. I will try to co-ordinate the next date when some of these other people can make it. I hope this didnt inconvenience anybody, I w...

Just a heads up, there is a redd in the first riffle above solano, so kindly do not fish it.  The fish on it are small, 16in looked like the average that were on it when i passed it this morning.  They are currently spawning, and I watched one pair drop eggs today.  Thanks.  This morning was 2 for 4, fished pr...

Are they trying to let the lake fill up by cutting back the flows?  The last couple of times that it's rained, they've cut the flows back into the 40's.

No New Posts stone flies (Preview)
I made it out to the creek the other for the second time since the new year.  All and all i have done better.  What was interesting was the fact that, while fishing around access five, I found what looked to be an adult stone fly.  The wings folded falt, unlike a caddis, and I am 98 % sure that it is a stone.  It...

Went out for a few hours today at around 10am.  Started at #5, water looked good, nice and clear, also the weather was good with no wind but lots of clouds.  Saw some rises in a deeper, slower pool downstream of a fast run.  There were also a few baetis spinners and tons of water boatmen in the stills.  Trie...

I camped at the resort and observed and fished each day.  The fish seemed to be located in the beginings of deep slow water at the end of faster runs.  I watch numerous fisherman fish the same water.  Many people fished the same water but only a few caught the fish.  I had sucess but only after I let the wate...

Just moved here from South Florida, where the flats fishing was way too easy.  All I had to do was zing out a chartruese clouser and strip it close the bottom and come home with sea trout, redfish, snook, pompano, flounder.  I should have taken a video of my first attempts at fishing Putah Creek.  It was h...

Hit the creek about 4 pm to see if the fish were still biting.  I fished my go to spot and am happy to say the fish are still biting.  Landed 3 on three different flies.  One on a size 18 micro mayfly, one on a size 16 tan and olive Barr emerger and one on a size 22 neon green midge.  The water is a little off color,...
